Natural Edge bowls, also called “winged bowls” allow the natural contour of the outside of the tree to form the top edge of the bowl. Often times, the bark from the tree will remain on the rim, forming an added dimension to the turning.

My daughter and her boyfriend gave me a piece of poplar burl for Christmas, 2014. This bowl came from that piece and is absolutely beautiful!

I don’t remember what kind of wood this little bowl is made out of . Pity, cause if I could remember what kind of wood it was, I’d remember to never use it again! It’s small, about two inched high at the highest point, and maybe 7 inches across. Of those 7 inches, there’s a crack running right through the bottom that’s at least 6 1/2 inches long. This one will get burnt.
