Inlaid Bowls

To inlay a turning, wood is removed in either a circle or some kind of pattern, then replaced with some other material, like crushed stone, dyed sawdust, or whatever will give the effect being sought.

This bowl is white oak, with black epoxy putty inlaid to try to distract from the horrible shape. Didn't work out so well...

This is my second attempt at playing around with epoxy putty. I was going for a really cool zebra stripe, but it turns out to be harder than it looks to get the crazy patterns to be consistent.

The bottle I used to color the epoxy said “Fire engine red”. This is most definitely NOT “fire engine red”!

This bowl had a crack in the side, so I turned it into a tree looking thing and filled it with ebonized walnut sawdust. One tree looked weird, so I put them all around the bowl. then, I used solder to inlay silver in the rim.
